Balanced Schedule

Wow, the Bombers faired pretty well against the Bucs at home. Can’t wait ’til they come to the Fens for a 3 game set. Oops, the Sox play the Padres in San Diego instead. No matter, 26-37 Pittsburgh in Boston is virtually the same as the the 36-26 Padres in San Diego. Must be nice to have MLB padding the schedule. Maybe next year.

The Sox scuffled a bit in Oakland but seemed to get back on track in Arizona. The Julio Lugo experiment in the leadoff spot is becoming comical. When can the “we know better than you” Red Sox brass admit they were wrong? At the time of this writing, Lugo is hitting .213 with a .274 OBP. It’s not April folks. He managed to “achieve” this after 267 plate appearances. Please spare us and put Youkilis in the top spot. I know he can’t run, but I’ll take his .336 average and .423 OBP and make due.

Let’s hope for smooth sailing through the balance of the interleague schedule. I doubt I’ll check back in until the Sox start playing real teams again.
